Can a lousy gardener be a good flower photographer?

Orange Pop

I can tell you I'm probably the worst gardener you'd ever met.  Most of the thing I grew died, for whatever reason.  There were holes in my lettuce when I put them outside, and when I moved them inside, some other creatures managed to find their way in, I asked why?  How did they get in?

I asked others why? Some say I put too much water, some say I didn't put enough water, some say because the root rot, some say I need phosphate, for this plant but not that. It's all too complicated for me!  Beside having the excuse of growing up in Hong Kong, an urban jungle, I can only concluded that I don't have any garden sense.  I never noticed any plants when  I was younger, even though it's always around my environment.  When my parents decided to move to New Zealand, which was a blessing for me when I think about it, I slowly started to notice plants around me, trees and little daisies, that I passed by all these years without taking a glimpse.  And that they are so vital to the environment we live in, giving us oxygen and an aesthetic space.

I have started and restarted different projects throughout the years, but all with failures.  But now if I were to start another gardening project, I'd learn to master growing one plant at a time, instead of like before, greedily wanting a self sufficient vegetable garden.  There's just so much to learn, composing, what to plant in which season, pruning...etc.

That's why I enjoy going to botanic gardens, where each area is carefully curated, the colours, shapes, fragrance of the flowers just gave me a zest of inspiration.  I enjoyed sitting amongst the flowers and observe each one closely, when I look closely, I'm just amazed by the patterns, the textures, the beauty each flower vibrate.  How amazing nature is!
